Work at your pace. Take a break between stages; there is no countdown.
You need: paper, a pencil and this lab. A helper is welcome for reading and discussion.Connect to what you know
Combine the event, condition and repeated turns into your first playable game.
Understand it, step by step
- 1
A game needs controls, a goal and feedback. Our board uses arrow buttons; reaching the star wins and touching a wall stops that move.
- 2
A designer chooses the star and walls. A player needs a possible route. Difficulty should come from an interesting choice, not an impossible map.
- 3
Testing means playing your own rules. Save a first design, try it, change one wall, and test again. A helper can play too, but is not required.
Put a star at the top right. A wall in the middle creates a detour. A solid wall across the board blocks every route: the goal is visible but unreachable.

Can you trace a route before playing?
