Mission 03 · Lesson 10

Generative AI

Artificial Intelligence

35–50 min + optional 15 min

Work at your pace. Take a break between stages; there is no countdown.

You need: paper, a pencil and this lab. A helper is welcome for reading and discussion.

Connect to what you know

A classifier chooses a label. Generative AI can produce new text or pictures, which still need checking.

Understand it, step by step

  1. 1

Generated text is built from learned patterns. Fluent wording is not evidence that a claim is true.

  2. 2

Separate a claim from its presentation. Compare each checkable statement with a reliable source. “I cannot verify this” is better than inventing support.

  3. 3

Our lab contains a deliberately written sample answer, not a live AI service. Use the source card as evidence and mark the two unsupported claims.

Watch a worked example

Source: ordinary RAM loses data without power. Sample claim: “RAM keeps your drawing forever.” The claim conflicts with the source even though it sounds confident.

Pause and predict

Can a convincing picture prove that a machine works?
