A distance rule controlled your robot. A moisture rule can control a model watering system.
Understand it, step by step
- 1
Input: a sensor reports moisture on our simplified 0–100 scale. Low values mean dry. Output: a pump is on or off.
- 2
IF moisture is below 30, turn the pump on; ELSE turn it off. Recheck after watering because the input changes over time.
- 3
Automation also needs failure handling. If the sensor is disconnected, our cautious classroom policy stops the pump and asks a person to check. Do not treat missing data as dry soil.
Moisture 15 → water. Moisture 60 → stop. No reading → stop and ask. This avoids running the pump endlessly because of an absent measurement.
Pause and predict
What should happen at moisture exactly 30?
