Prototype

Work at your pace. Take a break between stages; there is no countdown.
You need: paper, a pencil and this lab. A helper is welcome for reading and discussion.Connect to what you know
Use the problem and success test you saved in Invent. Make a small version someone can actually try.
Understand it, step by step
- 1
A prototype answers a question about an idea. It need not have every feature, but its main interaction must work.
- 2
Our studio builds two screens: a starting question or instruction, then a helpful next step. The action label should say what will happen when pressed.
- 3
Include a way back. Read both screens aloud and remove words that do not help the task. This is a functional interface prototype, not a finished connected service.
Screen 1: “Check the circuit”. Button: “Show the three checks”. Screen 2: “Check both wires, then the switch”. Back returns to the start. A button labelled only “Magic” hides its purpose.
Pause and predict
Can another reader predict what your button will do?
